About "EBS-Engineerig GmbH"

"EBS-Engineerig GmbH" is a 'one man' Limited-Company registered and owned by Gerhard Edmund Bendels ('Eddie Bendels') located in Germany.
(Thus the text on this website was simply written from 'I perspective'.)
The services I offer relate a lot to experiences gained in the past which are described further down in company-history, but following first a short overview.

Offered Services and Special Skills

- HW Schematic & PCB-design (e.g. using ALTIUM® designer)
for 'typical embedded systems' with some experience in analogue and RF,
- PCB prototype building/soldering and managing production with subcontractors
- Distribution of the “EBS HD62-DIY-PCB” (B2B only)
- Support for solving challenges with "board bring up", HW-debug, finding Root-causes of failures
(can use own Utility-SW-base for rapidly implementing special test-apps for HW-Debug)
- Software development in ASM, C, C++ for Embedded Systems (PC Windows/Linux)
various 8-, 16-, 32-bit MCU, DSP systems, Embedded Linux
- Consultancy on industry contacts for multimedia related subjects,
and sourcing and distribution of 'difficult to get' IC-components

Company History

Before starting my own company I worked many years for 'Fujitsu-Mikroelektronik' or 'Fujitsu-Microelectronics'. ( Fujitsu )
I left in 2014 and became self-employed initially working under the name 'Edmund Bendels Systems-Engineering'. (old EBS-E )
In 2015 I decided to register a 'limited company' under the name 'EBS-Engineerig GmbH' (www.EBS-GmbH.net)
so I am working as a 'one man GmbH' since then.

During the years at Fujitsu I worked in different departments, was involved with many interesting products
(like DSP, Ethernet-Controller, MCU, Multimedia-ICs/SOCs) and other special projects.

I worked on various aspects like
- design and building-up special Test-PCBs for internal use (using the Protel/Altium® SW)
- involved with SW-driver- and Demo/Reference-Application SW developments,
which were also used internally for 'functional testing of the ICs'
- creation of 'customer development support-tools',
like specification of HW-Development-Kits, reviewing schematic & pcb-layouts in cooperation with external design houses
- creation of various 'extension/utility boards' for these including prototype soldering, dealing with 'board-bring-up', HW-debug etc.
- creation of related documentation and application-notes
- I enjoined a lot providing technical support to customers,
identifying- and solving-issues (sometimes HW-debug their boards) to finally bring their products to the market.
- at a time I was also more focused on customer-visits and giving presentations etc.
From my 'job title/function' it was more or less always related to 'application engineering'.
Looking back now, it feels like “I am very happy I was there at the right time” :)

Working-Areas and Products

Due to my background, part of my work is still related to 'old Fujitsu products' and their customers.
Some still have or maintain products based on chips like "SmartMPEG, MB86H35, MB86H60, MB86H61, or HD62/MB8AL2030",
and I help e.g. if there are still product-changes or enhancements to be done.

When time permits, I am also following some own ideas which could finally become 'my own products',
or might be useful as 'building blocks' that I can offer to utilize in customer projects.
The "EBS HD62-DIY-PCB"-HW and associated SW are examples for this. (see [Projects] )

Specialties

With the information above, I hope I could give some impression on my 'special talent areas'.
- I love challenges related to 'digital (analogue) HW Schematic & PCB design' similar to my "EBS HD62-DIY-PCB"
and the initial debug and testing to get things alive
- or to work on 'lower level' SW e.g. for embedded systems with the target to implement really 'small size' and 'very efficient' solutions
(this is why I also like Assembly- or DSP-coding)
- or the creation of 'special utility SW solutions' for running on various platforms

Actually the 'EBS-APSOL SW Project' (also see [Projects] ) initiated from my need to have 'a most simple SW-base'
which can be used to quickly program test-functions for 'board bring-up' and other specific test-purposes.
Having to use 'the normal SW-environment' for a particular platform
(eventually also depending on a huge operating-system) for such purpose is simply ineffective !

Other aspects of my services are more 'consultancy related'.
- working out suggestions on how to best realize things, and eventually suggesting the 'right partners for it'
- I might also be able to help sourcing 'difficult to get' electronic devices

My 'home-office' is located in Germany/Dieburg, where I have most (HW-related) test/measurement-equipment
and a cellar with tools needed for mechanical work and PCB prototype soldering.

About Fujitsu

Fujitsu-Ltd. is/was a Japanese Company with their European headquarter near Frankfurt in Germany.
Fujitsu went trough a re-structure in 2014/2015 and was reorganized into other companies.
There is now a smaller company left, still called Fujitsu, another part was bought by Spansion which was later bought by Cypress,
and another part merged into a new company called Socionext. (Links to their official web-sites Fujitsu Cypress Socionext ).

AdditionalNotes

- there exist also other companies named 'EBS-Engineerig GmbH' with similar web-sites-names.
So if you google for me, not be surprised if you find confusing results.

- on this web-site, references to my company-name might be also simply referred to as 'EBS'.

- if possible, I also work from my 'remote office' in Badesi (Italy/Sardegna, usually in summer time)
let me know if you are interested renting an apartment there
